Chicago Rope

It's our birthday!

Sunday, November 11, from 6pm - 9pm

Celebrate Chicago Rope’s third birthday and Second City Kinbaku’s first! We’ll have cake, snacks, and refreshments, and the studio will be open for play. This event is free of charge, so please join us!

We're aiming for a chill, friendly and welcoming atmosphere to socialize and practice your rope skills. We ask that you keep play focused on rope and keep the volume reasonable at this event.

The dress code is "rope casual". Wear something you feel comfortable in, for both rope and socializing. Per city laws, we have to insist that you remain clothed for public spaces at all times. Note that Outerspace Studios is a no-shoes venue, so you will be asked to remove your shoes at the top of stairs.

We'll have a limited number of mats and a suspension frame set up. Bring your own rope and a mat or blanket if you have one. Chicago Rope and Second City Kinbaku instructors will be available to help out if you need assistance.

This event is free of charge. Feel free to bring food or drink to share if you would like.

Who Can Attend

This is an 18+ event. You must bring a government-issued ID to verify your age in order to be admitted. As with all Chicago Rope and Second City Kinbaku events, the Chicago Rope Social is a queer and trans inclusive space. For more information on what that means, see our policies and mission statement.

This event will be held in our Wicker Park venue, Outerspace Studios, directly above Volumes bookstore. The Damen blue line stop is very close to the studio. When you arrive, press the button for “Sun Studio” and you will be buzzed in. The studio is at the top of the stairs in the far back. The venue requests that shoes be removed at the top of the stairs prior to entering the studio.

Parking can be difficult in this neighborhood but often can be found on Milwaukee or on the streets surrounding the park. We recommend that those who are driving allow at least 15 minutes extra time to find parking.

Please note that Outerspace Studio is not wheelchair accessible. Entering the studio requires ascending a long flight of stairs.
